Vintage Rolex Daytona 6263 Sigma Dial

Rolex introduced the Daytona in 1963, and this model remains in production today. The reference 6263, launched around 1971, represents the last generation of the manually wound Daytona. Distinguished by its screw-down pushers and black acrylic bezel, the 6263 was offered in stainless steel with either a black dial with white sub-dials or a silver dial with black sub-dials. Rolex also produced exotic black or white dial variations, famously known as the “Paul Newman." Rolex also made versions in 14k and 18k gold.

The model we’re offering features the sought-after “Sigma Dial,” marked by two Sigma symbols flanking the “T Swiss T” at the dial's edge, indicating the use of gold—specifically white gold—in its hands and hour markers. This distinction originated from a 1970s initiative by L’Association pour la Promotion Industrielle de l’Or (APIOR) to standardize the indication of precious gold in watches, a meaningful feature particularly for steel models, where stainless steel and white gold are similar in appearance. Notably, this silver dial version of the Daytona omits the word “Daytona” on the dial, bearing only "Rolex Oyster Cosmograph," offering a refined, minimalist appeal often favored by collectors.
